Increasing Access for Aboriginal Injecting Drug Users for Mainstream Organisations

Increasing Access for Aboriginal Injecting Drug Users for Mainstream Organisations targets staff of mainstream organisations who work with Aboriginal people who use drugs (PWID) with a view to increase service access and quality of service.  The workshop was developed in conjunction with Aboriginal PWID and utilises real-life scenarios and role plays to engage participants with the long term aim of increasing quality service access for Aboriginal PWID and potentially reducing BBV transmission rates.

The workshop includes modules on working with Aboriginal workers and services and the unique cultural and social needs of this highly marginalised group, the workshop is facilitated and/or co-facilitated by Aboriginal PWID, the workshop can be adapted to suit the specific needs of services and workers.

Developed in conjunction with Aboriginal PWID and service providers, the workshop can be utilised by local areas and adapted to suit specific contexts.  For more information, or to organise a workshop please contact info@aivl.org.au.
