Drug treatment broadly covers any approach that assists people to cease, reduce or stabilise their use of drugs. This can be utilising counselling and group support, residential rehabilitation, detox as well as pharmacotherapies such as methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone. Drug treatment is an important area of work for AIVL and this section covers research and policy work related to all areas of drug treatment, as well as educational and other resources to assist people with choosing which type of treatment is right for them.
